Publisher Humble Games and developer Crema have recently announced and released Temtem: Showdown this June 26th. The title is a free-to-play and microtransaction-free version of the popular creature collection turn-based MMORPG, Temtem. Temtem: Showdown provides players with immediate access to the game’s competitive multiplayer battle simulator.

Gotta Catch ‘Em All!

Temtem: Showdown offers accessible, fast-paced, and free multiplayer battles. One key highlight is that it eliminates the need for players to level or tame creatures called Temtem. 

Players can quickly build their teams and engage in ranked matches against opponents from around the world. Temtem: Showdown boasts a “balanced and diverse meta”. This will be supported by regular balance patches from the developer, to keep the experience fresh. They also promise a new “season” every few months that will shake things up.

There are over 150 unique species in Temtem, offering a huge amount of choices for players to build up their dream team. This number is also made even more special when you realize that there are also elemental affinities, just like Pokemon types. There are 12 types in total, and a Temtem can have one to two affinities. 

The series’ signature two-versus-two battle system delivers action-packed encounters and strategic fights, devoid of any RNG. This should prove to make things feel more competitive and balanced as randomness is quite the thorn in many a player’s side. 

While Temtem: Showdown focuses primarily on the competitive aspect, the game is set in the Airborne Archipelago. This is a rich and diverse world that is filled with various islands and environments. Each island is home to different types of Temtem, adding depth to the team-building aspect of the game. 

An Online Showdown

Players who already own the Temtem base game can seamlessly link their accounts to Temtem: Showdown. This will ensure that any changes made to squads, Temtems, or characters are reflected in both games. Competitive rewards earned in Temtem: Showdown are stored and automatically transferred to the base game account when linked. Essentially, this provides an incentive for players to explore the full Temtem experience.

Temtem: Showdown will continue to receive regular updates and balance changes, paralleling the development of the Temtem base game. The development team promises to listen to the voice of the community, incorporating feedback to refine the game into an evolution that will satisfy its fanbase.
